Green Smoothie Boy

Our family has started trying to eat more of a whole food diet and one of the easiest ways we have found to incorporate more servings of fruits and veggies in our diet has been green smoothies.

I have to say, I definitely feel the difference.  I have a LOT more energy and just feel better overall.  And, as a mom – I’ll take all the energy I can get!

Now, the kids had plenty of energy before, so they are not as excited about drinking green smoothies.

Well, except for Gideon.

If he sees me with a smoothie, he grunts until I share it with him.  And, of course I always share with him because he makes the cutest face when he’s drinking from a straw.  Oh, and bonus…he’s getting lots of great nutrients.

Here’s what I generally put in our smoothies (depending on what we have on hand):

water, spinach, kale, flax oil, kelp, blueberries, peaches, and bananas

Yum!

Look at this face…

Also, six months ago today we held our sweet boy for the first time.  It feels like he’s been here forever.  I’ve had so many people tell me he looks just like our kids.  Our pediatrician even said it and said they just pick up on facial expressions and start looking alike.  I love those comments.

we love smoothies! except we never include spinach, kale, flax oil or kelp. i guess that's why ours are never green. i will try it. does it negate the positive effects of the green stuff if you also add ice cream? :)

happy 6 months home to gideon. love those eye lashes!

What cute pics....don't know if I can get into the smoothie thing, but hey- probably should. Our kids still talk about our time at your home :) What a beautiful family :)

Cute pic's! We love green smoothies too! Biruktawit really loves them:) My husband won't try them because they are green.. We've been eating a lot of vegan/vegetarian/raw foods because Biruktawit doesn't like cheese and a lot of things that we usually used to eat. It's amazing how much better you can feel just switching out a few ingredients!

ROFL! I am not so sure about the "green" smoothie. It looks kind of poopy brown to me (giggle), but I'm impressed by your commitment to healthier eating.

And OH MY is he getting cuter by the day! :)
